"Something Different" Music Lessons |
|
Applied and Fun Music Theory:
For students of any instrument, learn more about music theory as it applies to the instrument (or voice) that you've been studying. I use pop/rock and/or traditional musics in teaching this subject, as suits the student. When possible, students may be paired into a group of 2-4 students to make a mini-class. |
Music Technology:
Principles of the Computer Music Sequencer. (beginning to advanced) Applications: Logic, Garage Band or ProTools. Sing for Glee: Small singing groups of 2-4 students. Learn and improve harmony singing. Learn and apply music theory and ear training. Optional: learn to arrange and sing pop song harmonies. |
Piano Lessons |
|
Beginning
to moderately advanced students. Jazz, pop
and/or traditional piano lessons.
|
Piano
proficiency for non-piano students. A chance
for
vocal students or students of other instruments to gain some basic
piano skills as well as apply music theory to the keyboard.
|
Jazz
band prep. Piano students who've been studying
in a
traditional style can learn chords, scales, comping and soloing, and
learn to read jazz charts and lead sheets.
|
Pop, rock or country
multi-keyboards. Learn to play just what's
needed and figure out the right sound to use. A basic
proficiency at the piano is required.

About the Materials:
I mostly create my own materials (with the exception of traditional piano lessons). A music theory book may be required. |
Frequency and Location of
Lessons:
Summer can be a busy time for families! These summer music lessons can work on a flexible calendar, such as 2x a week for 4 or more weeks, the traditional "once a week", or other schedules. My music studio is in NE Hayward, just across the Castro Valley border off Center St. |
